Everyone remembers the first time they ever saw a wrestling ring completely explode. Chances are, your mind takes you back to SmackDown in June 2003 and a match involving "The World's Largest Athlete" The Big Show and "The Next Big Thing" Brock Lesnar.

During this contest, Lesnar pulled off a never before seen feat when he launched the giant off the top rope with a superplex, causing the ring to completely buckle and the ropes to collapse around them. The fans went absolutely crazy and rightly so. They'd never seen anything like this before and all logic pointed to the colossal men in the ring being responsible for the carnage in front of them.

However, after Big Show was involved in a similar spot in 2011 with Mark Henry, the ring breaker finally revealed the secrets behind these squared-circle explosions during a 2015 Talk is Jericho interview. He noted that the ring was raised up on airbags which were exploded whenever Show and his opponent hit the mat.

Unfortunately, every subsequent "shoot" ring collapse has been somewhat spoilt going forward now, with Braun Strowman's efforts with Big Show and more recently "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt both feeling slightly less special or believable in the wake of this reveal.
