What happens when A WWE star encounters a knife-wielding stuffed panda?
Over the years, professional wrestlers have provided the public with some amazing behind the scenes stories. In most cases, these tales are centered around their personal lives, a backstage conflict, or an amusing incident that happened while they were on the road.
However, there are several past and present WWE stars who have stories of a different kind — ghost stories.
As it turns out, there are several sports entertainers who have had (or claim to have had) paranormal encounters. In some cases, these encounters happened by chance, while there are also examples of WWE Superstars who sought out spirits from beyond.
Of course, there are plenty of folks who don't believe in ghosts and other creepy crawlies. That being said, after their unique experiences, there are at least ten famous grapplers who most certainly do.
With that in mind, it's time to take a look at ten chilling WWE ghost stories that could turn paranormal skeptics into believers. In most cases, these eerie tales come directly from the mouths of some of WWE's biggest stars.
And no, none of them involved an encounter with The Undertaker.
10. 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper
The late, great 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was one of the most popular wrestlers of the '80s and '90s. In one of his most memorable matches, Piper took on his close friend Adrian Adonis at WrestleMania III.
While they were fierce rivals when the cameras were on, both Piper and Adonis were fast friends behind the scenes and had known each other since their early 20s.
When the 'Rowdy one' received news that his colleague and former WrestleMania opponent had tragically perished in a 1988 car accident, he was, no doubt, distraught. However, 'Hot Rod' would encounter his late colleague at least one more time.
As the story goes, Piper was returning home from a road trip when his son darted out of the house, screaming. The boy claimed there was a mysterious man inside. When Piper burst in to to confront the intruder, he noticed logs had tumbled out the fireplace and started a small blaze.
While the wrestling star worked on putting the fire out, he reportedly encountered the ghost of Adrian Adonis, who simply said, 'Hey, Roddy.'
Piper believed that his friend's spirit watched over their home (which Adonis had encouraged him to buy) and was looking out for the family in the afterlife.
As ghost stories go, it's a touching tale. Still, one has to wonder if the whole log on the floor thing was really necessary.
