Ric Flair dazzled throughout the '80s as the NWA's prancing peacock. The 'Nature Boy' was a wrestling workhorse who loved lengthy matches, kept bars open until the early hours and seemed destined to make the '90s his own too. Then, Jim Herd came along with his 'Spartacus' idea.
Horrified by the thought of cutting his trademark bleach-blonde locks and playing a new gimmick, Ric left for the WWF and tried something new. That was only a temporary solution to his real worry though; in countless interviews over the years, including his recent appearance on Steve Austin's WWE Network show, the legend has told of his struggles with old age.
He tears up when he thinks about not being who he once was.
Back in 1991, there must've been a bit of concern from Flair that WCW wanted to move on from him. The guy was already in his 40s, had previously believed he'd be the man for good and couldn't fathom the thought of leaping from his lofty perch.
