Well, despite his best efforts, it's looking as though Randy Orton is about to enter the fabled WrestleMania season without a marquee opponent.

In recent months, The Viper has tried to coerce the likes of John Cena and The Rock back into the wrestling fold for this year's iteration in Tampa, Florida, only to be met by polite rejection from both movie stars.

It must be an unusual feeling for Orton who has frequently faced some of the biggest names ever to step inside a ring at 'Mania, with matches against the likes of The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Triple H, John Cena, Kane, The Rock and AJ Styles all filling out his impressive 'Mania CV.

Yet, this year he finds himself ambling in the mid-card and being used as a vehicle to get greener stars in the vein of Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo over on Monday Night Raw.

To his credit, Orton has approached this task admirably and has succeeded in making these younger stars feel more legit, simply by association.

However, this year could mark a rare 'Mania in which Orton finds himself without a decent programme to sink his fangs into on the night.
