10 WWE Stars Whose Best Match Came Against Bret Hart
1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Finally, at the top of this list we have one of the biggest
names in wrestling history and with that kind of territory comes a whole host
of stellar matches to reflect upon.
His WrestleMania X-Seven epic with The Rock will never be forgotten, while his Three Stages of Hell bout with Triple H just a few weeks prior was every bit as good. Perhaps the best of the bunch was his WrestleMania 13 effort against Bret Hart, in a match that was as brilliantly planned as it was executed.
It was a Submission match with Ken Shamrock the guest referee, and it provided us with that iconic image of Austin passing out in a pool of his own blood. In the aftermath, we would then bear witness to a rare double-turn in which Hart emerged the dastardly heel and Austin the loveable fan-favourite.
Obviously, the bulk of the match itself was excellent, but for the perfect delivery of that double turn and the resultant babyface run that Austin had, it’s difficult to look beyond this match as one of the greatest of all time in any situation.
Austin himself lists this as one of his top three matches of his epic career, and it’s not too surprising to find that a second Bret Hart match features in his personal top three.
If you happen to disagree though, do feel free to comment
below, and let me know if you thought there may have been any notable omissions
from earlier in the list.
