9. Heidenreich And Little Johnny's Identity
WWEProof that being a Paul Heyman guy doesn't always make your career, Heidenreich was a monster of a man who had a reasonably successful run in the WWE between 2003-2006. When he first appeared, the writers had him attempting to secure a tryout on either WWE brand, a solid angle that generally gets over any wrestler with the fans when he finally earns his spot. What they did with Heidenreich next was bizarre, even for WWE television: he quickly starting exhibiting signs of insanity, talking to seemingly nobody and claiming to be controlled by an entity known only as 'Little Johnny.' If it sounds familiar, they'd later try this exact same angle with R Truth and 'Little Jimmy', except the R Truth angle was played for laughs. In Heidenreich's case, we were expected to take it entirely seriously, even when Heidenreich started attacking people in the creepiest manner possible backstage under Little Johnny's orders. Realising that the fans thought the angle was entirely ridiculous, it was promptly dropped without any sort of resolution. Although it damaged Heidenreich, he did go on to be a Paul Heyman guy and the replacement for the late Road Warrior Hawk alongside Animal in a short lived new version of the Legion Of Doom, winning the tag titles at one point. Still, the initial angle did its damage and subsequent ridiculous booking would hamper Heidenreich's career in the WWE, until he eventually left in 2006.
