10 WWE Wrestlers Who Could Thrive In AEW

3. Johnny Gargano

It might be unfair to judge before it actually happens, but this fan doesn't really trust WWE's writers on Raw or SmackDown to do anything of note with Johnny Gargano once he moves on from NXT. At the moment, Gargano is a big fish in a small-ish, contained pond. On the main roster, he'd be in shark-infested waters.

We worry, folks. We worry.

AEW would seem to suit Gargano's style more than the bright lights of Monday or Tuesday nights. He's not physically big, even by the modest standards set by top names like Daniel Bryan or AJ Styles these days, and that could work against him with casual viewers who don't care a jot for NXT's in-ring excellence over the soap opera approach.

Cody and The Bucks would see past that. To them, Johnny Gargano must surely be considered everything that is right with pro wrestling in 2019. He's a scrappy underdog who can implement genius into his matches, and he's a better talker than some will give him credit for.
