10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Too Entertaining For Their Own Good

2. Rusev Day

WWE have wasted a lot of opportunities recently (*cough* Bray Wyatt *cough*), but their burial of Rusev Day still stands out as a glaring example of the company throwing money down the toilet.

The team of Rusev and Adrian English followed the tag team blueprint to perfection - take two struggling singles wrestlers, put them together, and watch their popularity soar. Wrestling scientists call this the New Age Outlaws Theory.

Fans loved Rusev Day, and their merch flew off the shelves. Unfortunately, that adoration led to the team's demise.

Vince McMahon is a control freak, and what he doesn't understand he tends to destroy. And he really, really didn't understand Rusev dDy. Rusev himself has recounted the time he told Vince that Rusev Day merch had sold out, and all Vince could say in response was that there probably hadn't been much to begin with.

Faced with something whose popularity was beyond his comprehension, McMahon acted in typical fashion by dismantling Rusev Day. Rusev turned on English, the team split, and neither wrestler came close to recapturing their former popularity in the WWE before both were cut in April 2020's infamous talent clearout.
