11 Burning Questions For WWE Extreme Rules 2016

2. (How) Will Roman Retain?

There is a strong assumption here that Roman Reigns will successfully defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules. He’s only held the title for seven weeks, so losing it now would be quite unceremonious given the buildup to WrestleMania and the sacrifices made to get to this point.

At the same time, ratings are down and the announcers have resorted to using John Cena-like defensive statements to explain away the boos Reigns elicits when he enters the ring. Still, let’s assume Roman retains the title. How will he do so? Will he need his cousins to bail him out from a full (Bullet) Club assault? Or will he single-handedly spear all three members simultaneously in a last-ditch effort to make him the ultimate hero?

Maybe in an effort to keep AJ Style strong, it will be Reigns resorting to questionable tactics to hold onto his title, adding some shades of gray to his whole “not a good guy, not a bad guy” persona. But as win many things, the devil will be in the details.
