11 Things We Learned From Triple H On Cody Rhodes' Podcast

9. His Outlook On Bodies In Wrestling

Pre-wrestling, Triple H did some bodybuilding and was fairly successful at a local level. On the pod, he admitted that he was never going to take this further. His passion was always wrestling - bodybuilding was simply a means to improve his look and give him something physical to do on the side. Of course, Hunter also recognised the importance of breaking in with a solid look.

Just how essential bulging biceps and huge traps are in the modern biz is up for debate, and it's a topic that came up during the chat with Cody. On that, Hunter asked: “Would Brock Lesnar still be as frightening if he didn’t look like Brock Lesnar?”. He likes variety in the industry, and pointed to guys like Gunther as being in great shape but not what you’d call a ’body guy’.

Later, 'The Game' also put over Kamala and Abdullah The Butcher for their killer looks sans rock hard muscle, calling them “just as frightening as The Road Warriors or anyone else who was jacked up”. Repeating something from earlier, he added: “I’m a big believer that variety makes everything better”.

That's when Cody reminisced about Greg Valentine coming to OVW and telling them, “We work out so we look like we can beat up the marks”. Hunter doesn't outright agree with that fully, but he does see where Valentine was coming from in terms of 'looking like somebody'.

The long and short of this is that Trips wants his WWE roster to offer a something for everyone buffet.
