9. Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament Final: Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe

Adam Cole
AEW

That the only major televised interaction Adam Cole and Samoa Joe have ever had came while Joe was serving as William Regal's NXT enforcer in WWE is surprising, but only at surface level.

In WWE and Ring Of Honor, the duo would have passed each other like ships in the night. Joe had already hit the main roster by the time Cole became black and gold. Prior to that, even though Joe signing with WWE came after a brief independent comeback, Cole didn't arrive in ROH until years after the company legend had set sail for TNA.

We therefore have a first-time match between two experienced campaigners on our hands. That it comes at the end of this (admittedly underwhelming) tournament gives it extra spice - and it all serves as merciful relief at not having to sit through what would surely have been a difficult, melodrama-heavy Cole vs. Kyle O'Reilly bout.

Is a heel winning the first ever Owen Hart Cup optimal? Perhaps not, but it would work based on the likeliest outcome of the other match...

Winner: Adam Cole
