12 Times Triple H Put His Ego Aside

He's supposedly an egomaniacal monster, so how come his WrestleMania record doesn't read "0 losses"?

Triple H is one of the most polarising individuals in the WWE. His meteoric rise to becoming one of the most decorated, successful superstars in the history of professional wrestling has divided fans for many years, with some claiming he's a talented worker and deserves one of the top spots, while others say he's just been in the right places at the right times. The fact that he married into the McMahon family itself is largely controversial, as Triple H soon found himself being favoured by his WWE-owning in-laws, following the marriage. One the one hand, there is an element of truth to the claims that he tries to 'bury' other talent. Just recently he beat Sting at Wrestlemania 32 when all logic would've pointed towards a Sting victory. The same applies to when he beat Booker T at the 19th edition of the show, or when he gained multiple victories over Umaga in 2007. He shut down several other WCW guys in their tracks too, notably Goldberg, Chris Jericho, and Scott Steiner, while his needless insertion in the Summer of Punk storyline (and his eventual win in his one match with CM Punk) have garnered him plenty of hatred from wrestling fans all around the world. On the other hand it can be argued that by winning quite a lot, it makes it a bigger deal when someone actually does defeat Triple H, and therefore elevates the person getting the win as the next potential star of the WWE. It's a classic tactic involving 'putting someone over', and Triple H has done his fair share of that too. It might not destroy any myths about Triple H's metaphorical shovel, but this list shows a lot of the times where he did what was 'best for business' and let someone else take the spotlight.
