12 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Apr 23)
8. Lars Wrecking Things
ls there anything remotely original about the way WWE have debuted Lars Sullivan? No.
Does it matter? Double no.
The reason that Sully wrecking sh*t works is because Big Lars is so good at playing the role. He's a big, intense, scary brute, and infinitely more natural than Braun Strowman was at this stage in this career. Thus, he's able to transcend Monster Booking 101.
Last night saw him kill everyone. It started with Chad Gable, who was obliterated by 'The Freak' en route to the ring for his match with Jinder Mahal. 'The Maharaja' bailed out before Lars could get his hands on him, leaving The Singh Brothers as meat shields, before a hacked-off R-Truth charged down, got a few shots in, then ate dirt with a sitout Powerbomb.
Four bodies fell to one 'Freak.' Sullivan is growing in power, and it'll be interesting to see what he can do when he's actually booked in a match.
