13 Things You Might Have Missed From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown

Someone needs to buy AJ Styles a cup...

Just as they were on Raw this past Monday night, the crowd inside Montreal's Bell Centre were fired up for SmackDown. This must be the hottest set of fans the blue brand has played in front of since the post-WrestleMania 34 edition, and Quebec was (arguably) even louder than New Orleans at points.

Again, the fans ignored WWE's characterisation and cheered their own favourites. The Miz was greeted like a returning hero, Samoa Joe was given a rapturous reception and even Shinsuke Nakamura was cheered after nut-shotting AJ Styles for the millionth time.

On that note, it's time AJ was written to smarten up and see Naka's attacks coming. There's a glaring plot point here that's slowly becoming obvious to everyone but the WWE Champion.

Other observations from this week's SmackDown were more subtle. WWE gave a nod towards The Wrestling Observer, went back on their own progressive booking last Tuesday, quietly started building towards a female heel turn and decided to attach pancakes to the inside of someone's jacket.

That is not a joke...
