13 Ups And 16 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2019

9. Too Many Dead Spots

While the women’s Royal Rumble had some great spots and an excellent ending, it really was dull overall.

There were a ton of dead spots throughout the match, with not much happening between a superstar’s entrance into the match. This was particularly evident in the first part of the match, as only three women were eliminated as #13 entered, and almost nothing of note actually happened. We got periodic eliminations from there for a while, but there was a lot of laying around.

Interestingly, there was no real “clearing deadwood” spot, where someone comes in and cleans house. Charlotte Flair eliminated two people shortly after entering, and Rhea Ripley tossed three women in about four minutes, but that was about it.

Not a terrible Rumble, but it definitely was lacking in a couple areas.
