16 WWE Superstars And The Actors Who'd Play Them In Movies
The wrasslers and their doppelgängers from Tinseltown.
With WWE Studios churning out films like Jingle All The Way 2 and The Marine 4 with all the grace of a diseased sea lion vomiting mackerel onto the backseat of a Toyota Yaris, you'd be forgiven for thinking that wrestlers and movies were not meant to mix. But everyone from Dean Ambrose to Paige to Brodus freakin' Clay has taken time off to shoot some film or another, and the wrestlers of the WWE show no signs of halting their nefarious plan to impersonate actors. But what about the other way around, when actors strap on tights and do their best impressions of wrestlers for the big screen? The wrestler biopic has been a fairly barren field up until now, with the dark private lives of grapplers instead being limited to shoot interviews and Beyond The Mat-style documentaries. Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke, wasn't about any one wrestler in particular but many saw parallels between 'The Ram' Robinson and faded superstars of yesteryear like Jake 'The Snake' Roberts or Scott Hall, and it's the closest the movies have come to a full-on dramatisation of a pro wrestler's life. There have been rumours of a Chris Benoit biopic, Crossface, circulating for years, with director Vicente Amorim becoming attached to the project in 2013, and Liev Schreiber squashing rumours that he was lined up to play the late wrestler. There has been no news about the project in years, but it leads fans to wonder: who would play which WWE superstar in the movie of their life? (NB - for entertainment purposes, this list will focus more on the storyline aspects of a wrestler's life than their personal demons)
