18 WWE WrestleMania 36 Impulse Reactions
17. The Kabuki Warriors (c) Vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
This was very good and too long and almost all of it felt unnecessary by the end.
The four worked incredibly, unrealistically hard in an effort that felt as much about getting the format over than the match, themselves, or the Women's Tag Team Championships. At 15 minutes, they couldn't quite achieve it but their shared efforts were worthy of not insignificant praise.
Asuka has been one of the shining lights of this particularly dark tunnel we all find ourselves in, and partner Sane as well as both Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss met her energy levels with bucketloads of banter between the moves that at least made this feel like a fight rather than a formulaic set of spots.
Bliss and Cross winning was the sort of result that would normally end an entry like this with a reference to giving the crowd something nice or helping dictate the pace of the show, but this was the first reminder that those particular tropes don't apply this year. The pop for the victory was as loud as the boos that came during the heat segment.
It was weird and it always will be. And it got weirder...
