2 New Entrants Added To WWE's Mae Young Classic; Jim Ross And Lita To Call Tournament
NXT TV SPOILERS AHEAD!
WWE's Mae Young Classic - a tournament pitting 32 established and up-and-coming women's superstars against one another - is slated to hit the company's streaming network later this summer. For now, participants are still being announced, and two more were confirmed at this week's set of NXT TV Tapings.
At the tapings, both Bianca Blair and Danielle Kamela qualified for slots in the Mae Young Classic, winning qualifying matches. Blair, who will be competing as "Bianca BelAir" was a track star and CrossFit regional athlete prior to wrestling, while Kamela, who worked the tapings as "Vanessa Borne," trained with Rikishi and Gangrel at Knokx Pro Entertainment before joining WWE.
WWE has also announced that the upcoming show will be hosted by Jim Ross and Lita, taking on the commentary role that Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan filled during the Cruiserweight Classic. The Mae Young Classic will officially debut on the WWE Network on Monday, August 28, with the first four episodes being released on demand on that date. The next four will be available on September 4, while the finals will air live on September 12. A bracketology special will air on the network immediately following SummerSlam.
