2 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jan 25)
2. What Unfinished Business?
The rivalry between Taya Valkyrie and Tessa Blanchard raged on from September to January, but it did come to a definitive end at Homecoming with Valkyrie finally capturing the Knockouts Championship. Although the end of the match saw some slight interference from guest referee Gail Kim, the rivalry appeared to finish up there.
Then this week came along.
This was Taya's return after she was powerbombed off the stage at the end of Homecoming, and while she put the entire Knockouts division on notice, she specifically targeted Tessa by claiming to have unfinished business with her. Why though? It wasn't Tessa that took her out at Homecoming - that person would be Killer Kross. Thus, it's Kross she should be wanting some revenge against. Fair enough, Johnny Impact's dealing with him right now, but Taya should at least want some sort of retribution on Kross. A low blow or something. Not another match with Tessa Blanchard for literally no reason.
One good thing to come out of this is you can guarantee a good match between the pair. We'll have to wait for Blanchard to come back from suspension and perhaps by then, it'll feel fresh again.
