2 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 20)

3. Ignoring The Obvious Problem

Brian Cage Willie Mack
AEW

Willie Mack did well during his first Rampage match, and the bout almost earned its way into the 'Ups' section because of his athletic approach. Then, a sudden rush of sadness crept over this viewer as he watched Mack wrestling Brian Cage. Why? Well...

...AEW's roster is far too busy for Willie.

You just know the guy will barely be featured going forwards, and therein lies the problem with All Elite booking sometimes; Excalibur, Chris Jericho and JR tried their best to put Mack over as someone fans should care about, but anyone who has watched Dynamite/Rampage for years knows he won't get a sustained run at it.

That sucks, because Willie is good. Why should folks watching actually care though when he'll be relegated back to Dark and Dark: Elevation like nothing happened? Further, does struggling to beat someone who isn't gonna be featured do Cage any favours before he works Bryan Danielson?
