16. Honky Tonk Man - Series 2

Complete with his signature acoustic guitar, the Honky Tonk Man Hasbro from series two includes some of the finest detail seen on any WWF Hasbro figure. The music notes and belt etched into the sculpt along with Honky's Elvis impersonator character really helps make this plastic little man stand out from the rest. What would unfortunately come to be a regular occurance with Hasbro releases, the Honky Tonk Man had left the WWF by the time this figure hit shelves. Even today toy manufacturers do try and predict who will be featured on television by the time a series is released when deciding upon which figures to create. Creating a figure from start-to-finish is a time consuming process that was undoubtedly the case back in 1991 when series two hit stores. Avid fans of the Hasbro line might remember the original plan to offer Honky Tonk Man as part of the first tag team series that was released alongside series two. Honky and partner Greg Valentine (Rhythm & Blues) were meant to be released in a two-pack but plans were cancelled after the duo split up following Honky's departure. Instead, both men were released as individual figures, but with Greg Valentine updated to reflect his signature look of "The Hammer" with blonde hair, black trunks and yellow boots. Honky's final release, meanwhile, remained relatively unchanged.

As a side note, the rare one-of-a-kind Greg Valentine prototype that was used for the ad above was recently found by a relative of the Hasbro company and auctioned off for sale. Current WWE superstar and action figure aficionado Zack Ryder was one of the few people to have bid on this rare gem. It was listed for an asking price of $15,000 but is believed to have sold for $12,500.
