In 1995, the 'Homicidal, Genocidal, Suicidal Death-Defying' Sabu was in hot water with Paul Heyman, who was left furious by the fact that the wrestler had decided to accept a booking with New Japan Pro Wrestling instead of a previously-agreed date with ECW. Originally scheduled to compete in a Three-Way-Dance for the ECW Tag-Team Titles, Sabu instead found himself fired by Heyman live over the microphone at the ECW show. The guy would later return to the ECW fold in November of the same year, but even to this day, Heyman expresses no remorse for teaching the performer a lesson back in '95. As one of the most recognisable names associated with the promotion, it's fascinating to imagine that Sabu was once let go by the company, but Heyman considered his actions unacceptable. In between his stints with ECW, Sabu did wrestle some matches on WCW television, but his weird style was never really a great fit for the more safe environment favoured by Eric Bischoff and crew. Throwing himself and opponents through tables was something Sabu enjoyed doing, but it didn't really sit well with those in Atlanta, and Sabu was clearly better-suited to ECW.
