View this post on Instagram My childhood memories revolve around professional wrestling and most of those memories revolve around Howard Finkel’s iconic announcements. “Ladies and Gentlemen....MR. PERFECT! ...AND NEW! Both feet touched the floor at the same time... HOWEVER...” His booming voice, his words, his delivery, and his reactions taught me what a wrestling ring announcer could and should be. He made big moments feel special. He made introductions feel big, which made the huge wrestlers we idolized that much bigger. Howard was truly the greatest. As a kid, he always accepted my phone calls to his office. As an aspiring ring announcer, he showed me the ropes my first week on the job in the big leagues. I had started my career trying to be him and now I was working with him. He was always so kind and willing to help lend his expertise. He loved his job and every single moment that he was able to stand in front of all of you and do what he did best. I loved watching him do that on tv and later on from ringside, where he would leave the ring and give me that giant hug. In our last visit, I was able to thank Howard for everything. I was able to let him know how much he meant to me, to the wrestlers he introduced, to the fans around the world and to the industry itself. Howard Finkel was special and made the role, as well as the amazing world of pro wrestling-that much bigger and better. Rest In Peace my friend.
