20 Superstars Who Only Had One Championship Reign In WWE

Once was enough for these iconic performers.

Great wrestlers win lots of championships. Ric Flair and John Cena are 16-time world champions, Edge is a 14-time tag team champion, and R-Truth has held the 24/7 Championship 53 times, making him the greatest wrestler to have ever lived.

Conversely, some legendary grapplers never win gold in WWE. Dusty Rhodes, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Bam Bam Bigelow, and many more never got their hands on a WWE title in eras in which the prestige resonated far more, but are still regarded as some of the best of all time.

But what about those who fall somewhere in between? What about the wrestlers who tasted WWE gold once but never again? Well, that's the case for these twenty iconic wrestlers and teams, who were only given a single championship reign during their entire WWE careers.

Some of these entries will shock you, as these men and women could have easily been multi-time champions or reigned with several different belts across their storied careers. As for others, you'll come to realise that one title reign was definitely enough.

Maybe one too many, in some cases...

20. Hornswoggle

There's a case to be made that Dylan Postl is the most versatile performer in WWE history.

During his run as Hornswoggle, Postl portrayed a leprechaun, a cow, an alligator, a member of DX, the son of Finlay, and the son of Vince McMahon. Also, he was the last person to hold the original version of the Cruiserweight Championship.

Hornswoggle beat Jamie Noble at The Great American Bash 2007, becoming one of the youngest champions in company history at the age of just 21. After a brief feud with Noble, Swoggle was stripped of the belt after his status as "Vince's son" was revealed. In reality, this was just a way for WWE to quietly retire the championship until it was eventually revived during the Cruiserweight Classic.

The former leprechaun was released from WWE in 2016 with only the one Cruiserweight Championship reign to his name. That being said, as he was never pinned for the belt, Swoggle is in a very elite group of wrestlers who can say they never lost a championship during their entire WWE run.

Technically, this makes him one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and you can't prove otherwise.
