Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker on the September 23 Raw.

It was - against all cynical but very much warranted projections - an excellent match. All Jey Uso matches are loud, but that is usually it. They’re rarely dramatic, emotional, nor mechanically dazzling. This win was a belated response to his detractors, but it was as loud as a Yeet chant in France.

Breakker was protected, in that his arrogance cost him, but the way in which the match played out was in perfect balance; it never felt like Bron had lost more than Jey had won. You see a great match every week, but this was special.

It’s a wonderful experience - in fact, it’s what you watch this thing for - when a swelling feeling of pure belief envelops an entire arena, when the fans are made to feel like their noise and emotion is shaping the outcome of a match. Jey and Bron absolutely nailed that magic moment.

This, technically, would make him Upper Midcard Jey Uso, as opposed to Main Event Jey Uso, but whatever: he earned the spot.
