24. Brock And Triple H Close The Show On A Low Note - SummerSlam 2012
781078The program between Brock Lesnar and Triple H started off with a hot angle -- Lesnar attacked the COO in the ring and, via a kimura submission hold, left him with a broken arm. From there, things took a tumble -- questions about Lesnar's contract status surfaced, and so Triple H stopped selling his arm in public (and blew off the injury on TV). After an interminable promo from "The Game" at No Way Out and the repeated assaulting of Paul Heyman by Hunter and Stephanie, the match was set.
Brock's first match back -- against John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012 -- was a hard-hitting classic, but Triple H wasn't game the way Cena was. The two men had a plodding match that closed out the second-biggest show of the year in dull fashion. Triple H did put Lesnar over (after all, he would go on to defeat him at WrestleMania), submitting to "The Beast's" kimura, but it was all very underwhelming.
The Los Angeles crowd agreed. While the broken babyface stood before them as the show closed, audible chants of "You tapped out!" filled the arena. It was not a great ending for a Pay-Per-View event.
