In the pic, my dad’s wearing a Survivor Series shirt, it was from 1990 and @undertaker had just debuted. The Hart Foundation were the Tag Team Champs. . The kid in the picture with my dad is Rob Bloom. @robbloomcw. My dad attended his Bar Mitzvah because Rob’s family wrote a letter to Vince McMahon. . Rob reached out to me yesterday (for the first time) and wrote me this after sharing the photo with me on twitter: “I had no idea your dad was going to be at my Bar Mitzvah. I was a huge fan. About 6 months before, our house was hit by lightning and burned to the ground. All my WWE stuff, toys, shirts, magazines, figures, etc. were destroyed. My parents wrote a letter to Vince McMahon asking if a wrestler could come to my Bar Mitzvah as a surprise. It took months of planning and many conversations between my parents and the WWE. Sue Aitchison helped coordinate it all. (Sue is now a WWE Hall Of Famer!) I will never forget the moment your dad walked into the ballroom and grabbed the mic. He made a speech and called me his honorary tag team partner. I was 13-years-old and shaking with excitement and disbelief.” . Rob told me that through the years, he and my dad stayed in touch via email. . I remember my dad being gone a lot growing up and he wasn’t just performing in the ring, he was giving back in ways we didn’t know. I truly loved hearing this story from Rob because you just never know what someone is going through and how you can impact their lives for years to come.
