3 Major Raw vs SmackDown Matches For WWE Survivor Series 2016
Raw Vs. Smackdown is back on!
On Tuesday's Smackdown, commissioner Shane McMahon and general manager Daniel Bryan threw down a challenge to Raw that could result in three huge Survivor Series-style tag matches for the 30th annual fall spectacular.
Survivor Series will mark the first time since SummerSlam that Raw and Smackdown superstars will be competing on a show together, and that presents the opportunity for them to compete against each other. McMahon suggested a traditional five-on-five Survivor Series match between Raw's top five male superstars and Smackdown's top five male superstars, a bout with echoes of the main event of Survivor Series 2005 (Smackdown won that encounter).
That wasn't it, though - the blue brand's management also proposed two more Survivor Series-style matches - one pitting the top five tag teams on each brand against one another, and one putting the five best female superstars on Raw and Smackdown head to head. Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley will presumably address the challenges soon.
As per the rules of traditional Survivor Series matches, multi-superstar teams battle one another until every competitor on a single team is eliminated. When Survivor Series first premiered, the card was solely made up of these bouts, but as the years went on, they started to play less of a role in the show.
Survivor Series airs live on the WWE Network on November 20.
