3 New Names Confirmed For AEW's World Title Contendership Tournament

Six names down, two to go...

Hangman Page
AEW

Hangman Page, Wardlow, and Colt Cabana were all added to AEW’s upcoming tournament for a shot at the World Championship during last night’s episode of Dynamite.

The tournament was announced last week, with Kenny Omega, Rey Fenix, and Jungle Boy the first participants. AEW now has only two spots left to fill, with the start date still to be confirmed. Whoever triumphs will get their shot at Full Gear 2020 on 7 November.

Omega was interviewed by Alex Marvez after the new names were confirmed, throwing barbs at Page, his former partner, calling him a “tag team wrestler” in a pool full of more established singles wrestlers. A delicious heel-ish move, considering Hangman is the only wrestler in the tournament to have ever wrestled for the AEW World Championship.

Page bristled when Kenny’s name was read out last week, storming away from his position in the announce booth. It’s likely that their teased feud will form the basis of the tournament’s most important story.

Jon Moxley defends the AEW World Title against Lance Archer on next week’s anniversary episode of Dynamite. It is unlikely that whoever wins there would lose the belt between then and Full Gear.
