3 Ups & 12 Downs From WWE Raw (May 31)
5. Trash
Let’s make something clear: For the past year-plus, WWE wrestlers have been off the road, with one show (Raw or SmackDown) a week, plus the monthly PPV. There have been no house shows, no travel days.
You can say that the loss of house shows has robbed wrestlers of the reps they need to stay fresh, grow and develop in the ring. But at the same time, they’ve been able to spend the six days each week that Raw isn’t on practicing with each other, so they should be able to get those reps.
So there’s no excuse for the trash we saw on Monday night between Naomi & Lana and Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke. The four had an embarrassingly bad match that saw them stumble around the ring, blowing moves left and right, including Rose & Brooke’s finisher (possibly a Samoan drop/neckbreaker combo). The result was a match no one ever wants to see again, and convinces that three members of the Raw women’s division (we’re sparing Naomi because her talent has been proven in the past) are just dead weight.
And just to remind everyone, WWE cut Mickie James, Chelsea Green and Peyton Royce less than two months ago.
