3 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Feb 1)

A night of excellent tag team wrestling and questionable booking decisions.

The weekly previews of Impact Wrestling on their website always hype up what is to come on the two hour show - as you might expect, really. Unfortunately, the action doesn't always live up to the hype.

This has become quite clear during Impact's ongoing tour of Mexico. It's not necessarily the fault of the wrestlers themselves, but more so the writing team. The booking was exceptionally great throughout 2018, and it's a shame the same can't be said for 2019 (at least for the majority).

This week's main event tag match featured Johnny Impact, Brian Cage, Killer Kross, and Moose. As much as the four involved are wonderful to watch in the ring, some of the moments during the story so far have been anything but wonderful to say the least. Another tag rivalry featured on the show has featured Rosemary, Kiera Hogan, Allie, and Su Yung. Compared to the rivalry mentioned before, this battle of the Knockouts has seen few dismal moments.

Elsewhere, we saw further developments between Rich Swann and Sami Callihan, finally getting a definitive reason as to why Sami is desperate to get Rich to join oVe. Eli Drake and Eddie Edwards have also formed an unlikely bond, with the former on a mission to rid Impact of any and all links to hardcore wrestling.

All in all, it was a bit of a mixed episode, which so far has been the norm for the tour of Mexico. Here's hoping it improves in the weeks that follow. Let's get to it...
