3 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 4)
Downs...
3. Dawkins vs Fulton Battle Of The Who?
Last night's NXT was home to a truly show-stopping main-event-quality match that has forever raised the bar for future generations. I refer of course, to the titanic clash between Bull Dempsey and Angelo Dawkins. I kid, Bull Dempsey is fun, likeable act and if Angelo Dawkins would cut out that weird 'stirring some soup' gimmick that he's working he'd be a solid talent. But there's no doubt that a comedy midcarder vs a hapless jobber was never going to be a match that lived on in anyone's memory, which makes it all the more bizarre that NXT seem to be using this match as a jumping-off point for a feud between Dawkins and his partner Sawyer Fulton. This is not to complain that the two men will be given more airtime, not at all. I'm sure Dawkin and Fulton are talented between the ropes and could use more exposure. The problem is, the NXT crowd have barely seen them wrestle for a rivalry between the two men to mean something. Sure, the Vaudevillains defeated them three weeks ago, but their last appearance before that was back in August. Drama will always mean more when something the audience cares about is at stake. The drama of Dawkins and Fulton breaking apart can't help but be lessened by the fact that the audience they haven't seen them together enough to care about the team. If NXT showcased them more it would be different, but right now, any program between the two has the prospect of being crippled by the 'meh' factor.
