4 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 5)

So, Kevin Owens’ new gimmick is that he gets beat up by “tortured souls” a lot?

Someone is going to have to explain this one to this writer. Owens has spent the last few weeks getting jumped by brooding fashion plate pirate Aleister Black, only to head to SmackDown last week and get attacked by The Fiend. He returned to Raw Monday night and called out Fiend, only to get blindsided by Black again.

This is a former Universal Champion and guy who feuded with Shane McMahon for months on SmackDown. And now he’s just kind of listlessly getting beat up with no real purpose evident.

Owens is one of the most gifted performers in WWE. He’s great on the mic, really good in the ring, and can make just about any feud work. Even his banter with Shane a few weeks back was gold, and that was just mindless chit-chat outside Raw Underground. Why is he flailing like this?

That said, a feud with Fiend could be entertaining, but until it takes off and both are on the same brand, it’s just wishful thinking.
