OK, so it wasn’t a didgeridoo, but WWE delivered exactly what you’d expect for their “Australian Street Fight” between Roman Reigns and Bronson Reed: a sometimes-plodding, methodical plunder brawl featuring chairs, tables, a trash can, kendo sticks, a stop sign, and a barricade spot.

It doesn’t matter the venue or who is involved, WWE plunder matches are almost paint-by-number affairs, with the same weapons and predictable spots thrown together in different orders, with a few unique spots using those same weapons mixed in. The only thing “Australian” about this street fight was that it took place in Perth, and Roman used a cricket bat.

Reigns did a nice job between the moves, playing to the crowd and soaking up the cheers, but this couldn’t have been more pedestrian if it tried. Until the shenanigans unfolded in the waning moments of the match, this was carried solely by Roman’s charisma and a hot crowd at the start of a PLE.
