4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 21)

Downs...

5. Big E's Roll Up

Roll-up finishes suck 99% of the time.

For evidence, watch SmackDown. Big E got pasted by Sheamus for most of their match before scoring an opportunistic pin out of nowhere. It's hard to know who the agents were trying to help here. Sheamus didn't need to look quite so dominant, and the finish hardly sells E as a singles hopeful.

Who knows why WWE are still struggling to mightily with E's push. He's charismatic (the guy just cut an awesome promo last week), can work against all shapes and sizes and fans watching at home like watching his work. This was a bit of a botch.

The ending implied that E was lucky to beat Sheamus. That doesn't do much to inspire hope that he's the next breakout babyface SmackDown sorely needs. Why aren't they trying to get a new finish over here? It's infuriating.
