4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Feb 21)
If you're looking for a number one contender, you won't find one here...
One week removed from what was probably SmackDown's strongest show since the 2016 draft, team blue provided a topsy-turvy offering last night. It wasn't bad by any means, but a number of dips in quality made it feel like the average episode of Raw, albeit without the colossal volume of filler typically found on Monday nights.
The number one contender's battle royal consumed much of the show and surprise, surprise, it produced an inconclusive result. AJ Styles and Luke Harper just couldn't be separated at the end, and while blighted by a poorly-executed finish, the match did an excellent job in furthering multiple stories at the same time.
While WWE Champion Bray Wyatt left SmackDown cackling, Naomi probably departed the building in a state of depression. Injury forced her into relinquishing her newly-won Women's Championship at the top of the show, and Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch fought to crown a new champion in the aftermath. Elsewhere, Nikki Bella and Natalya looked to settle their beef in a chaotic Falls Count Anywhere match, but Nikki's problems are far from over, and neither are her partner, John Cena's.
A clear step down from last week's fantastic show, but SmackDown still provided a number of major talking points on the road to WrestleMania. How do they stack up? Let's take a look.
