4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Mar 12)

1. The Main Event Was Great At Nearly 20 Minutes Long

This was the third week in a row where Smackdown's main event was a tag match. This time it was the babyface trio of Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose going up against Bad News Barrett, Stardust and Luke Harper. They are the six men in the IC Title ladder match at WrestleMania. Last week's Smackdown main event was the same tag except Bryan and Stardust weren't in it. What was great about the match is that they were given a lot of time. As seen with that tag title match with eight guys involved, if you rush a multi-man match it can be pretty bad. In this case they went nearly 20 minutes long. Ziggler was the one that received the hot tag for his team and he was on fire. As usual in matches like this, everybody brawled towards the end of it with Bryan and Ambrose taking out Stardust and Barrett on the floor with impressive dives. Harper tried to finish off Ziggler, but he fell victim to a Zig Zag. Bryan tagged back in, then hit the running knee on Harper and that was enough for the win. Following the match, Ziggler was mad about Bryan tagging in for the win. Ziggler told Bryan that he's going to be out there. Ambrose said that he thinks Ziggler has an inferiority complex and Ambrose called Bryan a turd. Then he just left. Ziggler said he agreed with Ambrose that Bryan was a turd. That's how Smackdown ended with Bryan pondering what his "friends" had to say to him. It was an effective ending because they gave us a very competitive match. That "turd" part was a bit silly, but it's also a way to put over that Bryan may not be loved by everybody like he thinks and that could make it tough for him to win the ladder match. Smackdown was better this week because they only had four matches (previous week had seven) and the main event was above average. That needs to be the formula more often.
