3. Welsh Wizards Cast Magic

The Cardiff crowd was naturally 100% behind local heroes Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster in the tag team triple threat for NXT UK's doubles straps, and the Cymric couple absolutely fed off arguably the most fervent crowd they've ever performed in front of.

As utterly abysmal as FMW's tights were - he looked like a stick of Brighton rock - it wasn't reflected in his performance, or that of his partner. The occasion got the better of the two at times, as their multiple spots frequently suffered from sloppiness, but for the most part this simply translated as excitement rather than incompetence. The crowd certainly didn't care; a double moonsault had them on their feet, and they stayed there for every subsequent bit of aerial magic from the Welsh wizards.

Only the mistiming and general untidiness of Wolfgang and Mark Coffey threatened to derail the match's momentum, but it found its way again once Gallus were effectively written out of proceedings. A closing sequence with two dramatic near-falls and a wonderful ref pull ratcheted up the tension, before the lengthy contest finally concluded with the correct result. The ovation which followed was one of pure elation, a sense of raucous pride which could have been heard right around the capital.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
