4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 28)

1. The Intercontinental Title Was The Focus Of The Show

There were mentions of IC Champ Bad News Barrett being booked poorly and Daniel Bryan moving down a notch to challenge for the IC Title in the "downs" section, but the way WWE focused on the IC Title on this show was really well done. We found out earlier in the week that the IC Title will be defended in a multi-man Ladder Match at WrestleMania with Barrett, Bryan, Ambrose, Ziggler, R-Truth and others likely. Ambrose is probably going to leave with the title, which is fine because it seems like he actually cares about it.
There were matches featuring guys challenging for the title, promos, a funny backstage segment with R-Truth and Ambrose, plus R-Truth was hilarious on commentary. He kept on referring to Byron Saxton as Jonathon Coachman. Truth's a funny guy when given the chance. The best way to say it is that their methods of promoting the IC Title weren't done perfectly, but it's the number one "up" for the week because it's nice to see WWE caring about that title after all these years. This is the kind of thing we've been hoping to see for many years. The IC Title is important. Treat it as such. Let's hope it continues.
