Easily the most high profile name on this list, Sugar Dunkerton has proved his worth as a great wrestler for AEW in a short period of time. Initially brought in to AEW to be a member of the crowd during empty arena tapings, Dunkerton was spotted by Chris Jericho during his commentary duties and Le Champion instantly made ‘Pineapple Pete’ a star.
The highlight of Pineapple Pete’s time with AEW was of course his match against Chris Jericho on AEW Dynamite. Although this match was short lived, it not only showed that Jericho still possesses his star making power, but it also gave Dunkerton a chance to prove his worth in the ring.
Dunkerton’s fun loving, charismatic persona has featured in several AEW Dark matches since he butted heads with Jericho in both singles and tag team competition. Some of his opponents have been the likes of Lance Archer, Butcher & The Blade and Shawn Spears. With his experience as an indie wrestling veteran who has travelled the world, it would certainly be great to see Pineapple Pete make his current stay with AEW a permanent one.
