5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE In 2024
2. Winner: Tony D'Angelo
While there are others on the main roster who have had a great year, like Gunther, Bron Breakker, and The Bloodline as a whole, NXT shouldn't be overlooked, and there is a case to be made that no one has had more overall success in quantity than Tony D'Angelo.
The Don of NXT hasn't made as big of a splash at the forefront compared to the top champions of Roxanne Perez and Trick Williams, but he has made waves in every other aspect, and more consistently.
At the start of the year, he was a reigning tag team champion alongside Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo. After dropping those titles, he defeated Charlie Dempsey to win the NXT Heritage Cup—something that doesn't regularly fit his character at all.
That wasn't long-lived, but he then turned things around again after dropping that back to Charlie Dempsey, by beating Oba Femi to win the NXT North American Championship, which he currently still holds. Not only is it impressive to win a title, but to beat the unstoppable record-breaking champion, who has never lost to anyone BUT D'Angelo, is crazy.
If D'Angelo wins the NXT Championship at some point in 2025, he'll have achieved a Grand Slam status that no one else has, and it's certainly within his grasp after his tremendous 2024.
