5 Cruiserweights WWE Should Sign For 205 Live

205 Live is looking a little thin on the ground.

It's been just shy of six months since 205 Live debuted in the WWE Network's Tuesday night slot, and it would be fair to say that fan reaction has been somewhat... mixed.

The returning cruiserweight division got off to a flying start a couple of months earlier when little-known upstarts from around the globe partook in a 32-man tournament to crown the inaugural champion, bringing with them disparate styles and an enthusiasm for wrestling that many battle-worn veterans are sometimes accused of lacking.

After that, things rapidly went downhill, as low-key feuds - booked in low-key slots, in an altogether low-key way - took centre-stage. Many of the tournament's stand out performers were not taken on full-time, and those that were have been afforded only a modest amount of main show airtime.

The feud between Neville and Austin Aries - still going strong as Raw heads into Extreme Rules - has given the division a timely shot in the arm, but with so few of their contemporaries pushed to the same level, it's difficult to see where things are heading afterwards.

If WWE want to spice things up, they'd do well to look to the independent circuit.

5. Matt Sydal

It's been five years since we saw Matt Sydal, aka "Evan Bourne", on WWE TV, and whilst much of his early appeal was about being a fresh-faced high-flyer who looked pleased just to be sharing a ring with the likes of Rey Mysterio, he's still only 34 - and still going strong on the indie scene.

205 Live could do with adding a veteran to its ranks, and Sydal - already versed in the company's idiosyncratic demands - would be an obvious choice, in much the same way that bringing Mickie James back to the women's division was a no-brainer.

Having recently returned to Impact Wrestling, a move to WWE doesn't look like it's on the cards at the moment, but he can't be far from the minds of the recruitment team.
