5 Pre-WWE CM Punk Controversies You Need To Know About

1. The Teddy Hart Fight

Teddy Hart is infamous for his actions on the independent wrestling circuit. Teddy is a member of the famous Hart family and is the eldest grandson of the late Helen and Stu Hart. Growing up in a dysfunctional family like the Hart family is bound to alter ones perception and Teddy rarely seems to be living on the same planet as anyone else. His current venture is training house cats to perform in wrestling matches. Yup. Punk and Hart had heat stemming from an incident involving Teddy at a ROH show in 2003. Hart was competing in a multi-man scramble cage match when he started performing several unplanned flips and dive off the cage. This was dangerous, since he could have hit somebody who didn't know what he was doing. Teddy was going 'into business for himself' to get himself over and this seriously pissed Punk off. Teddy was blackballed from ROH and Punk wrote a very long blog entry for his website where he called Hart out for his behaviour and branded the Galgary native a 'liar' and mocked him for getting released from his WWE contract. The fight happened when both were working for TNA at a cafe in Nashville, across the street from where TNA were taping their weekly pay-per-views. According to witnesses, Hart walked into the cafe as Punk was leaving and the two got into a shoving match. Before anyone had a chance to digest what was going on, punches were being thrown and Punk was on the ground. According to TNA wrestler Petey Williams, Punk tripped and Hart grabbed his hair, punching him and rearing up to kick him in the face before Sabu came and broke it up. Punk never worked for TNA again and Hart was gone the following week.
