5 SummerSlam Debutants Who Challenged For The WWE Title

The signals of discontent at 1993's Survivor Series, followed by the big turn at '94's Royal Rumble before the house was well and truly torn down at WrestleMania X was long-term storytelling at its best. Owen Hart's King Of The Ring victory would then set up a WWE Championship match with his big brother Bret in what would be, somewhat unbelievably, 'The Rocket's SummerSlam debut.

Bret won arguably the best cage match in WWE history in the most dramatic of circumstances. With the brothers both hanging on the outside of the cage Owen's leg became tangled up, allowing 'The Hitman' to drop to the floor for the victory.

This wouldn't be the end of the pair's rivalry however with a huge Lumberjack match coming soon thereafter - a match that Owen would win to become WWE Champion before Bret took the belt back after a restart due to interference.
