5 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's Impact Wrestling (Jun 14)

1. Heavyweights Collide

Our main event for this week was Michael Elgin taking on Willie Mack in a match that is exactly what it should've been. Just two big heavyweights knocking lumps out of each other with a hint of athleticism added in for good measure. You can't ask for much more than that.

It was unquestionably the best match on the show. Few rest holds and more focus on the strikes, slams, and signature moves. Neither man was giving in but when push came to shove, it was the #1 contender to the World Championship crowned the victor to continue his steamroll through the competition en-route to Slammiversary.

With Brian Cage out of the picture for the time being while he recovers from injuries sustained at Rebellion, it pondered the question of how a feasible World Championship match could be built up without the champion being around. If done right, it's possible to do. Elgin has looked like an absolute beast since his arrival, and this was a prime example of that.

7 July can't come soon enough!
