5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Elimination Chamber 2021

4. McIntyre Triumphs… Sort Of

Hats off to Drew McIntyre, who survived the Elimination Chamber and managed to retain his WWE Championship on Sunday night… at least initially.

If McIntyre was bound to lose his world title during the PPV, at least he got a solid title defense and looked really strong during the match. He threw his opponents around with ease, absorbed a lot of punishment, and took out two of the five other competitors (Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles).

While McIntyre losing to Miz afterwards was a letdown, take solace in knowing that WWE booked him strongly in that match and has done so for some time now. They hopefully aren’t stupid enough to jettison him from the title picture here. If anything, this should set up a world title match for WrestleMania 37 for McIntyre in some fashion.

We’ll just have to wait to see how that unfolds.
