5 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT (Nov 25)
4. Ember Moon Is Eclipsed, Toni Kicks Off A Storm
After something of a stop-start return to the black and gold brand, Ember Moon was looking for a significant victory coming into this clash of NXT generations with Candice LeRae. The former NXT Women's Champion was also searching for some revenge after being jumped by LaRae and her new associate, Indi Hartwell, on last week's show.
So did she succeed in getting either?
Well, after her opponent regularly tried and failed to evade the "War Goddess" and the pair had laid into each other with some vicious offence, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez made their presence known in the contest.
As you'd expect, it was only a matter of time before the pair interfered with the action and, as Moon attempted to nail the "Poison Pixie" with an Eclipse, that inevitable distraction paved the way for Hartwell to take the finisher instead. Moon was then drilled with a Wicked Step-Sister and defeated in singles action for the second time since re-entering the black and yellow brand's Women's division.
In truth, this match was booked mainly to further set the stage for the impending Women's War Games encounter at TakeOver and establish LeRae's heel squad coming into the event. However, Toni Storm's initial aiding of Moon post-match and the subsequent attacking of her recent tag partner completely changed the complexion of both the war to come and Storm's personal future on the brand. Storm, instead of lining beside the faces as predicted, will be joining Team LeRae... what a twist.
Heel Toni Storm chasing after Io Shirai in the wake of War Games? Yes, please!
