Typically on the heels of WrestleMania, the Raw the next night is a huge deal. Fans are in a frenzy and there’s a lot to unpack from the previous night. The first person out sets the tone for the evening, and it’s almost always someone who made news at Mania.

So on Monday night, after the most unique WrestleMania ever, we got… Asuka, fresh off the Kabuki Warriors losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, facing Liv Morgan, fresh off winning a kickoff show match Sunday night.

Yeah.

There was nothing wrong with the match – in fact, Morgan acquitted herself pretty well in a losing effort – but to open the Raw after WrestleMania, this was a really baffling choice. Neither woman is currently a focal point of the division, and it’s not likely they will anytime soon (considering Asuka just had a title match at Royal Rumble, and Morgan lost Monday night.

Just a strange choice to open the show. Even Seth Rollins’ squash would have worked better in some ways.
