6 Match Star Ratings For WWE Royal Rumble 2021
3. Women's Royal Rumble Match
You can't get an accurate gauge anymore, since the ThunderDome fans are made to clap for whatever by a director. But if social media is anything to go by, the vast majority of fans went banana for a very fun, progressive and tonally layered match that was a credit to its innovator.
The Women's Rumble has been slow to get going in its infancy - it's a complicated match, and the stark reality is that the North American scene doesn't really allow for many full-time veteran hands - the decision to install Bayley as the bedrock was very astute. She quietly held everything together and was tremendous value bumping all over the place for the emerging set and the endearing cameos alike.
A lot of love and care went into putting this together, and in lovely contrast to a sometimes just-there men's match, the actual (bloody good) action accompanied a vibrant sense of fun. Dakota Kai put in a cracking shift; Billie Kay's facial expressions highlighted almost remarkable dovetailing storytelling, insofar as undercard comedy goes; Victoria worked damn hard to get over in an earned and endearing short shift.
Free of schlock, it wasn't the time to indulge "the lore of the Fiend". Alexa Bliss was eliminated very quickly for this express purpose: this was serious, career-defining business, and Bianca Belair emerged from the match a star. She ran the marathon, and if that was in character for a babyface that might struggle to get over, being so athletically gifted, her genuine tear-soaked celebration enveloped a lovely scene with passion and humility. WWE couldn't have done more to make her.
Your writer however could have done without the field selling Bliss as if she were seven foot tall and 500 pounds, and that 24/7 Title b*llocks, but regardless: this was the best Women's Rumble match yet.
