6 Times Ronda Rousey Stirred The Pot For No Reason
1. Calling Out Floyd Mayweather
Rousey remained confident she could defeat Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather ever since he said, “I don’t even know who he is,” during an interview prior to the 2014 ESPY Awards.
As he ran against ‘Rowdy’ for the Best Fighter Award, it was very likely ‘Money’ was aware of her existence, and his remarks were surely a jab.
Naturally, Rousey was a bit sore after the comments, despite winning the ESPY. But rather than simply state once she could defeat Mayweather, she dragged out the situation, adding stipulations, such as the fact it needed to be a no-rules fight and not a boxing match.
While her response might have been warranted to a degree after she was shamed by Mayweather, her words hollowed out when she retreated: "Fights are going to go both ways. You're going to see both people hitting each other. I don't think we should celebrate a man hitting a woman in any kind of setting."
If Rousey truly felt that way, why did she spend so much time teasing the idea of their fight? Surely it wasn't just to get attention.
